We’re Renovating
A generation has passed since Tara moved to Garratt Lane and we are now beginning work on a long-held dream to create in Earlsfield a beautiful, small-scale theatre with a distinctly East-West flavour.
We plan to squeeze more space out of our much-loved home and create a larger, more comfortable theatre, as well as a new rehearsal room for artist development. The refurbished Tara will be eco-efficient, with ventilation, heating and lighting treading as carbon-neutral as possible. Comfort levels for our audience in the theatre, foyer and bar will be greatly improved. These changes will be set within a building which combines the textures and materials of East and West to reflect and express our vision of global theatre for local audiences in Earlsfield.
Over the coming months we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news & pictures on our campaign progress via this website, and through our regular subscribers’ emails. We will also offer opportunities to help support particular elements of our renovation project - from naming bricks and seats and helping improve our foyer facilities, to sourcing eco-sustainable materials from the UK and directly from India.
A generous award from Arts Council England has started us on our way. We now need to raise the remaining funds to begin construction early next year.

Immortalise your support in our new patio garden. Your name will be carved into the brick walls forming our new patio garden in a style incorporating traditional Indian and English motifs and techniques.
NAME A SEAT £300
Become a permanent part of Tara by buying your own seat in our new theatre. The seat will be covered in a fabric and colour of your choosing, with your name embroidered on the seat back.
